St. Joseph’s Day -or- the Feast Day of St. Joseph is celebrated throughout Europe. Traditional foods and Customs have Been Celebrated for Centuries to Honor the Importance of Family and Community and to Pay Homage to St. Joseph, the Husband of Mary and Stepfather of Jesus.

In the USA, this holiday is popular as well. The feast of St. Joseph is celebrated annually on March 19th.  In New Orleans, the Italian & Sicilian community, restaurants and churches celebrate with parades, street festivals and wonderful foods.  Special attention is given to St. Joseph's Table -featuring  traditional foods, breads, sweets, flowers and statues of Joseph and the Holy Family.

Polish Americans also celebrate St. Joseph's Day: St. Joseph's Day in Poland (Dzien Swietego Jozefa)

This holiday takes place during Lent, and for many, the holiday is traditionally a meatless feast.  In contrast to the green of St. Patrick’s Day, Red is always worn.  This holiday is rich in history and tradition -  Enjoy!
