About the Recipe
Take Summer Sausage to a new level! This brandy glazed delicacy is a game changer! Can substitute apple or orange juice- Another option is to add thin slices of cheese between the summer sausage slices. If adding cheese, do so about 5 minutes before removing from oven.
Ingredients
One 11.5 Ounce Stoysich Summer Sausage Chub
1/3 cup apricot jam
1/4 cup spicy brown mustard
3 tbsp brandy*
2 tbsp ketchup
1 tbsp brown sugar
Preparation
Preheat oven to 400 degrees.
Mix jam, mustard, brandy, ketchup and brown sugar in a pot and whisk over medium heat until jam is melted and mixture begins to boil and thicken.
Remove the wrapper from the summer sausage and place on a cutting board with chopsticks on either side (long side). Holding the summer sausage down with one hand, slice into thin, even slices (don’t worry, the chopsticks will ensure that you don’t slice all the way through).
Generously brush the summer sausage with the sauce, making sure to get in between all the slices.
Bake for approximately 45 minutes, basting every 10-15 minutes, until the summer sausage is browned and crispy around the edges.
Display with crackers and sliced cheddar cheese and Serve warm with leftover sauce for dipping.
